JUSTICE FOR NEW BATAAN 5!

National Week of RAGE (MAR 13 - Mar 18)

TW: Graphic description of wounds, injuries, torture

Thousands of Filipinos and allies across the U.S. mobilized in a National Week of Action from February 28 to March 4 demanding Justice for the New Bataan 5: Chad Booc and Jurain Ngujo (volunteer teachers with indigenous Lumad schools), Elgyn Balonga (a community health worker), and Robert Aragon and Tirso Añar (their two drivers). The New Bataan 5 were civilians killed by the Philippine military on February 24.

On March 10, results of an independent autopsy report confirmed that the military fired at Chad Booc with an "intent to kill." Testimonies from Jurain Ngujo and Elgyn Balonga's families also revealed that they had been brutally tortured, including peeling off of skin, severing of limbs, and tearing off of the jaw. The autopsy report ruled Chad's death as homicide. Join us in mobilizing from March 13 - 18 in a National Week of Rage to continue demanding Justice for the New Bataan 5!

We are calling once again on Filipino youth, community organizations, Indigenous Peoples advocates, educators, people of faith, and all allies to take action in even greater numbers to amplify the call: JUSTICE FOR THE NEW BATAAN 5!

Let us use our voices to condemn and hold accountable the Philippine military and the Duterte government for their crimes against the people. Let us continue pushing for a swift, impartial, and thorough investigation of the New Bataan 5 massacre. Let us ensure Congress listens to our demands and passes the Philippine Human Rights Act (PHRA) to end U.S. aid to the butcherers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Justice for New Bataan 5! AFP Panagutin! Save Lumad Schools! Stop Lumad Killings! Stop the Killings in the Philippines! Pass the PHRA!

National Week of Action (FEB 28 - MAR 4)

We Filipino youth, community organizations, Indigenous Peoples advocates, educators, and allies condemn the brutal murder of the New Bataan 5—Chad Booc, Gelejurain Ngujo II, Elegyn Balonga, Robert Aragon, and Tirso Añar—by the 10th Infantry Division (ID) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as a violation of International Humanitarian Law and basic human rights!

We demand justice for the New Bataan 5 and an independent, thorough investigation into their deaths! We demand an end to all attacks on the Lumad people and the Save Our Schools Network, including the lies the military and National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) are peddling about Chad, Jurain, Elgyn, Robert, and Tirso! We demand the US government pass the Philippine Human Rights Act (PHRA) to ensure our tax dollars do not go toward funding military and police that commit such gruesome massacres.

We commit ourselves to taking action and mobilizing our communities to do the same during this national week of action and beyond.

Justice for Chad! Justice for Jurain! Justice for Elgyn! Justice for Robert! Justice for Tirso! Justice for the New Bataan 5!
